Use Your Scraps

Thanks Allison and Caroline for once again allowing me to come and play at your blog.  I will admit upfront that this post is purely self-indulgent, because it is about one of my favorite things - Paper Piecing.  I think one of the reasons I like it so much is that it enables us to use those scraps of patterned paper that are so small they really should have been put in the trash, but you just can't bring yourself to do it.

First you will need a stamped image with an element on it that you are able to cut out easily, and then your scraps.

I chose this image because I felt that the star would be great to highlight in a piece of patterned paper.  Ink up your stamp and stamp the part of the image you want on the patterned paper.

Next cut out the image - the only tricky part here was cutting around the hand.

All that is left to do is color your stamped image, glue your cut-out on top of the original stamped image and assemble your card.

Of course you don't need to stop with one part of the image, especially when you have so many little scraps to play with.

I hope I have encouraged you to dig through those scraps and create.  Don't forget to show us by posting a link below.
